Everything you wanted to know about Bitching

PR's Theory on Cribbing (Bitching/Whining)

Cribbing by nature is a very negative process and sould be avoided. But it can be very harmless if certain conditions are met.

"When both the parties (the cribber and the cribee) are actively involved in the process (i.e. its bi-directional)"

This is a necessary condition for the process to be harmless and enjoyable by everyone. In addition to this, if the following condition is satisfied, cribbing can be a great stress reliever.

"When both the parties know that their cribbing is baseless and they are doing it just to vent out their frustration"

However, compliance with the second condition alone (i.e. uni-directional baseless cribbing to vent out ones frustration) would lead to great annoyance to the receiver (i.e. the cribee).

The most important rule is....

"DO NOT over-do it"

Everyone has a threshold for the amount of cribbing (uni-directional or bi-directional) that they can take. Up until that threshold, you are relatively safe. But once you start crossing the limit regularly, you become 'the perennial cribber' and then everything you say with even a slight hint of disapproval is treated as cribbing, even though you did not mean to crib.
